DEPARTMENT: DIABETES EDUCATION CENTER
POSITION: ONE (1) PERMANENT PART TIME SOCIAL WORKER (FTE .6)
SITE: NBRHC-NORTH BAY
HOURS: ALL SHIFTS AS REQUIRED
SALARY: $44.67 (MIN) TO $57.91 (MAX)
Pay rate, benefits and other terms and conditions are as per the OPSEU 662 Collective Agreement
QUALIFICATIONS
- Registered and a member in good standing with the Ontario College of Certified Social Workers and Social Service Workers (BSW or MSW)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers (HCP) Certificate required (recent within the last twelve months)
- Current Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) Certificate required (training delivered by Health Centre upon hire)
- Minimum 3 years of experience with adult and paediatric populations required
- Excellent interpersonal, interviewing and counselling skills required
- Knowledge of adult teaching and learning principles combined with recent experience in facilitating groups required
- Knowledge / experience in education curriculum development, implementation and evaluation required
- Excellent demonstrated ability to prepare and present educational materials designed to meet the needs of clients, professional groups as well as community groups required
- Excellent demonstrated flexibility, organizational and leadership skills required
- Demonstrated commitment to ongoing education is required
- Self-directed professional who functions with minimal supervision required
- Demonstrated team player required
- Critical problem solving and decision making skills required
- Excellent demonstrated ability in the areas of program development, implementation, management and evaluation required
- Computer skills - keyboarding and software applications required
- Diabetes knowledge base required
- A willingness to travel; a vehicle and valid driver’s license required
- Practical knowledge of relevant legislation required
- Good knowledge of community resources required
- Critical problem solving and decision making required
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
- Good attendance and work record required
- Bilingualism (Advanced level English/French) is required. All unilingual candidates are encouraged to apply and may be considered if the French requirement has been met or if there are no successful bilingual candidates. A formal French evaluation will be conducted to evaluate the proficiency level.
