Mental Health and Addictions Case Manager or Therapist B’SAANIBAMAADSIWIN PROGRAM

 

Job Status: Contract to September 2025 Hours of Work: 35 per week, 1.0 FTE Base office: Parry Sound or Muskoka Competition:32-24

 

Purpose of the Position:

 

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled professional to support the mental health and well- being of the Indigenous population (First Nations, Metis, and Inuit) in the Districts of Muskoka and Parry Sound. This role is designed to be adaptable, focusing on providing comprehensive support through mental health and addictions case management, psychological rehabilitation, crisis intervention, and treatment. The successful candidate will be matched to specific responsibilities as either a Case Manager or a Therapist based on their qualifications, experience, and areas of expertise. Our aim is to deliver culturally sensitive and effective services that promote healing and resilience within the community.

 

Education and Qualifications:

 

  • Case Manager
    • Bachelor’s degree in a human service/health science discipline relevant to the position. Equivalency may be considered for a combination of educational experiences. Examples of equivalency include;
    • Mental Health related diploma with relevant work experience PLUS registration with a regulated health professional college
  • Therapist
    • Master’s level post-secondary degree in Psychology, Psychiatric Nursing, Social Work or equivalent degree, along with current registration in good standing within their respective professional regulatory body/college, including College of Nurses of Ontario, Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, or College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario.
  • One year of experience working with persons who have mental illness and/or developmental disability and/or substance use issues preferred, plus experience in providing one or more of the following;
    • supportive counselling
    • case management
    • crisis intervention
  • Registration with Canadian Addiction Counsellors Certification Federation (CACCF)

  • Knowledge and skills related to addictions/concurrent disorders assessment and intervention
  • Knowledge and experience providing case management services
  • Experience providing addiction-related services to individuals, families and groups through effectively responding to the needs of individuals in varying stages of change
  • Broad knowledge of addiction interventions – based and best practice intervention approaches to addiction, social determinants of health, mental illness, community resources to support individuals and families
  • Knowledge and awareness of Indigenous culture and language an asset
  • Ability to be sensitive to and be seen to be sensitive to Indigenous history and its impact on the current health status of the consumers and the communities.
  • Knowledge of Indigenous populations within the traditional territories of Muskoka and Parry Sound
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a team environment in a rural setting
  • A willingness to serve consumers within the Districts of Muskoka and Parry Sound
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Outlook Calendaring and consumer information systems
  • Valid Ontario G or G2 driver’s license and a safe and reliable means of transportation
  • This position includes participation in after-hours 24/7 on-call service.
  • Ability to work evenings and/or weekends
  • Bilingual in French is an asset

Salary scale:

Case Manager: $29.26 - $38.32 per hour commensurate with qualifications and experience

Therapist: $35.90 - $44.26 per hour commensurate with qualifications and experience
