Area Manager - Family Services Division
Reporting to the Director of the Family Services Division, this position will be responsible for the management of a team of Family Counsellors and other human service staff to ensure delivery of the agency's core counselling services, Employee Assistance Program and other programs administered by Family Services Durham to meet the psychosocial and wellness needs of our clients and community.
The incumbent will:
- Develop and plan for the delivery of services including clinical, employee assistance, outreach, and other support services to align with client and stakeholder needs,
- Develop and administer policies and procedures for programs ensuring a system that is efficient, cost-effective, and measurable
- Ensure adherence and accountability to program mandates, agency policies, and accreditation standards
- Monitor, evaluate, and refine existing programs to reflect client/community need and accountability to stakeholders
- Keep statistics and track trends to support program planning to meet future needs
- Manage financial and staff resources
- Provide all manner of direction and supervision to a professional team of staff, including recruitment/selection; staff performance; conflict resolution including labour relations responsibilities in a unionized work environment
- Provide clinical supervision to clinicians from various professional colleges and ensure that clinicians receive appropriate staff development and support
- Monitor and plan quality control of service delivery, innovative program development, team building / collaboration, training, and enhanced support services.
- Promote service excellence, creating and fostering a positive working environment, continuous improvement, community relations/collaboration, creativity and innovation.
- Consult with Regional Departments, community agencies, professionals, and community groups
- Represent Family Services Division in the broader community and with applicable stakeholders
- Additional responsibilities may be assigned, or changes to responsibilities may be applied, based on operational requirements as determined by the Director of Family Services
The successful candidate will possess:
- A Master's Degree in Social Work or other relevant counselling program or equivalent
- Membership in an accredited professional association is required
- Clinical supervisory experience coupled with well developed critical thinking skills and effective problem-solving skills
- Management experience leading a diverse team of professionals within a specified budget
- Experience working collaboratively with community agencies on various projects
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and an ability to interact professionally with clients and other professionals
- The ability to motivate staff, monitor performance and take corrective action as required
- Ability to work well within a team setting and provide leadership and vision to the units supervised
- Knowledge of community resources, working cross-culturally, and knowledge of best practices working with different populations and concerns, including the ability to work effectively with clients of diverse backgrounds and identities
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision within confines of provincial and national requirements for family service agencies
Management & Exempt Salary Grade 7
- Salary: $104,048 to $130,060 per annum
Conditions of Employment
Prior to the start date, the successful candidate will be required to provide a satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check dated within two (2) months from date of hire. Proof of education, qualifications and any other job bona fide requirements will also be collected.
