Clinical and Forensic Social Worker

The Sentencing and Parole Project (SPP) is a non-profit organization that prepares Enhanced Pre-Sentence Reports (EPSR) for Black people marginalized by poverty and racial inequality. 

EPSRs (also referred to as Impact Race and Culture Assessments (IRCAs)) are culturally responsive reports that provide the courts, parole and immigration boards with a holistic understanding of the lived experience of Black people to assist with fair decisions. The work of the SPP seeks to address racism in the justice system.

At this time, we are seeking a full-time Clinical Social Worker to join our growing organization.

Required Knowledge & Skills

  • In-depth understanding of how anti-Black racism and other forms of oppression operate within interpersonal, cultural and systemic contexts. 
  • Experience in conducting clinical assessments and synthesizing relevant information. 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience working with marginalized communities.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize projects, manage workload and meet deadlines.
  • Client-service oriented, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail oriented and resourceful, with strong analytical ability.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assess clients through interviews and review of collateral information.
  • Draft and prepare reports for use in sentencing proceedings.
  • Support and assist with administrative tasks and intake of new clients. 
  • Conduct relevant research required to complete reports.
  • Outreach with external stakeholders and justice system participants.

Education & Other Requirements

  • Master of Social Work (MSW) with at least 3 years of experience.
  • Registered in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW).
  • All applicants must have a valid driver’s license, access to a reliable vehicle and be willing to travel.

Compensation

We offer a competitive salary commensurate with experience, along with a comprehensive benefits plan including health, dental, short- and long-term disability insurance.

The salary range for this position is $70,000 - $85,000 commensurate with experience.
