Professional Development Associate

OASW is the voice of the social work profession in Ontario and our mission is to mobilize mental health and wellbeing across Ontario. We recently launched our 2022-2027 Strategic Plan which outlines how we will advance the social work profession by shaping the future of social work, leading equity integration, growing our membership, enhancing our engagement, and building a sustainable future for the organization.

Our increased focus on professional development provides relevant and timely learning opportunities for Ontario social workers while adding value for our 8300 members. We are looking for up to two 1-year full-time Professional Development Associate (contract) to join our team to plan and support the implementation of the OASW Learning Centre. Your role would be to organize, deliver, and evaluate learning offerings for social workers across the province. If you are a collaborative and engaging individual, we want to hear from you!

Priority Responsibilities

  • Work with a collaborative team to plan, launch, and deliver OASW professional development opportunities including online courses and webinars.
  • Utilize various software and programs to provide operational and moderation support for online synchronous and asynchronous professional development offerings.
  • Collate, review, and analyze data to assist in evaluating learning outcomes of the program and informing future activities, including maintenance and creation of spreadsheets.

Priority Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a membership association and/or in social services within a non-profit or academic environment.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills to provide prompt and responsive customer service and build positive relationships with faculty, learners, and other stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with ability to manage multiple priorities and pay close attention to details.

Duties:

Planning and Delivery of Learning Opportunities (45%)

  • Work with a collaborative team to launch new OASW professional development opportunities including online courses and webinars.
  • Provide planning support for professional development opportunities including registration, budgeting, marketing, and sponsorship coordination.
  • Support the development, implementation, communication, and monitoring of education policies and procedures.
  • Liaison for general inquiries from vendors, stakeholders and partners of OASW education initiatives.

Recruitment and Learner Support (25%)

  • Support and monitor marketing and promotion efforts of professional development offerings through social media, web, and relationship-building with stakeholders.
  • Maintain spreadsheets related to education offerings and work within different systems to ensure we have accurate and timely records using tools such as Excel.
  • Provide administrative support for projects focused on equity integration and creating spaces of belonging, diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Collate data to assist in evaluating learning outcomes of the program, including maintenance and creation of spreadsheets.
  • Record financial transactions to support accurate tracking of multiple budgets.

Technical Support (20%)

  • Provide operational support for synchronous and asynchronous professional development offerings.
  • Support learners with technical support and ensure exceptional learning experiences.

Other (10%)

  • Assist with the collection, management, and analysis of qualitative and quantitative data in support of research and program evaluation initiatives.
  • Support other OASW events as needed.

Qualifications

  • Preference for MSW and/or BSW degree.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a membership association and/or in social services within a non-profit or academic environment.
  • Experience supporting online learning or training offered via a Learning Management System (e.g., Moodle, Brightspace) or webcasting programs (e.g., Zoom, GoToWebinar)
  • Ability to provide prompt and responsive customer service to a diverse range of people to build rapport and address emerging issues.
  • Strong commitment to equity, inclusion, diversity, and accessibility
  • Demonstrated success in working well with people and teams and the ability to build positive relationships with faculty, learners, and stakeholders
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with ability to manage multiple priorities and pay close attention to details.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Ability to facilitate and plan meetings
  • Excellent technical skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office and web-based applications (e.g., Content Management Systems)
  • Ability to work in a virtual environment and travel regularly to the main office in Toronto.

  • Possess extensive experience using iMIS
  • Have strong knowledge of data analysis and statistics.

Reports To: Professional Development Manager

Hiring Range: $43,000-$55,000
