Strides Toronto is a multi-service agency providing a wide range of exceptional programs and services that improve the mental, social and physical health of infants, children and youth from the pre-natal stage to age 29, and their families.  With a range of community, residential and treatment services our work helps to strengthen social and emotional well-being for culturally diverse clients to reach their full potential.  We provide individual, group and family interventions that include mental health counselling, autism services, education, outreach and referral, early intervention, day treatment and community support. ABOUT THE ROLE

Provides leadership to the Lead Agency Toronto East Quadrant’s Youth Outreach Worker (YOW) program including advisory of the Lead Agency Partners and the East Quadrant network of YOWs and Enhanced YOWs (EYOWs) and monitors the Client Information System (CIS) database to ensure the timely and accurate submission of data to support the data integrity and reliability.

Provides day-to-day supervision of internal team of YOWs and EYOWs who are continuously working to connect youth and their families to a wide range of community-based and other services using relevant evidence-informed service models and monitor the use of the CIS database to ensure timely and accurate data submissions to support data integrity and reliability and program-related management decisions.

Establishes positive and sustainable working relationships with internal and external partner to support the daily operation requirements and service delivery outcomes of the YOW program.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Ensure staff are readily available and equipped with the relevant professional designation, experiences, skills, and trainings to support the day-to-day operations of the YOW program to meet goals and outcomes as per funding agreements while applying clinical and non-clinical interventions, and other approaches including clinical supervision, case management, anti-oppressive, anti-racism, harm reduction, and via a social determinants of health lens.
  • Ensure staff has the required experiences and skills to offer client high quality mental health services with the highest level of care possible.
  • Ensure the day-to-day operations of all data management related functions, including database training, accurate and timely record setup and data input, and the timely adjustment of all data discrepancies on the monthly discrepancy report.
  • Ensure the day-to-day, monthly, and quarterly operations of the Lead Agency Partners Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) related functions, including the fidelity of the YOW program goals and outcomes, plan and facilitate the month East Quadrant YOW network team meetings and the quarterly advisory meetings and additional meetings as required, arrange staff OR and other program trainings, address OR discrepancy reports, and establish and maintain professional working relationships with the Lead Agency Partner managers/supervisors.
  • Monitor the operations of the stakeholder relationship functions, including community meeting attendance and participation, program information sharing, and support program planning, development, implementation, evaluation, and follow-up.
  • Support staff participation in community outreach activities and events in the different catchment areas to increase individual and community access and visibility to the agency’s programs and services and support organization’s capacity building to better response to the needs of youth and their families
  • Participate and support network meetings including the community of practice (COP) in person and otherwise
  • Other duties as assigned

THE “MUST HAVES”

The following education, professional memberships and knowledge are a requirement for this role:

  • MSW or a related master’s degree
  • Registration in a regulatory body in good standing, that is permitted to provide clinical supervision of therapists (OCSSWSW and CRPO).
  • 3 years direct related experiences
  • 2- years program planning experience
  • 3 years supervision experience
  • Trained in an evidence model of therapy.  
  • Harm-reduction training and application
  • Awareness of the role of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace and within the community being served by the position.
  • Demonstrated experience working with youth and communities from diverse backgrounds including working with indigenous populations.
  • Knowledge of the cultural diversity of communities served by the agency.
  • Data management, reporting, and impact analysis skills
  • An understanding of Anti-Black Racism, anti-oppressive/anti-racism perspective in the context of the social determinants of health when working with clients and their families. 
  • Ability to recognize and identify situations where incidents of and imbalance of power and privilege may occur and can result in possible negative impacts for the client.

THE ‘NICE TO HAVES’

While not required, preference will be given to candidates with the following: 

  • Functional computer and client information system knowledge.
  • Knowledge of the cultural diversity of communities served by the agency.
  • Fluency in another language(s), including sign language.

BEFORE STARTING WITH US

As our work puts us in direct contact with young people and vulnerable persons in our community, with health and safety as a priority, the successful candidate must complete or obtain the following before commencement of their employment:

  • Full vaccination against COVID-19 or have received an exemption from the organization’s policy.
