Manager, Student Wellness

(Temporary Full Time Position – One year contract)
$40.15 per hour

The Student Life Centre (SLC) is one expression of Brescia’s commitment to our students. The Student Experience Team works collaboratively to provide a broad framework of student engagement programs, services, and initiatives that support and enhance all facets of the student experience at Brescia, particularly: mental health & wellbeing, gender-based and sexual violence educational programming and support, orientation & transition, career development & education, and leadership & involvement and residence life.

Reporting to the Director, Student Experience and as a member of the Student Life team, this position is responsible for the development, implementation, and assessment of initiatives dedicated to supporting a healthy campus community at Brescia. The role provides complex case management support and consultation; maintains Brescia’s early alert program; oversees outreach initiatives that involve student leaders, including overseeing the operations of two Peer Support/Wellness spaces on-campus, volunteers, other student staff and personal counsellors; liaises with campus and community partners to develop partnerships; manages gender-based and sexual violence programming and support; and designs and oversees the delivery of training and education for staff, faculty, and student leaders.

The Manager, Student Wellness is expected to work in strong collaboration across partners to support students and initiatives outlined in Brescia’s Strategic Plan. Strategies are designed to enhance collaboration among service providers, emphasize evidence-based practices, improve student access, and strengthen prevention, wellness promotion, and skill development.

The ideal candidate will have a master’s degree in Social Work, Counselling Psychology, or other related degree with a minimum 5 years of mental health related experience, working with individuals with mental health needs, and preferably in a post-secondary environment as well as a minimum of 3 years managerial experience. Providing clinical supervision is an asset. The candidate must be registered (or eligible to be registered) with Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers or College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario. We seek a strong collaborator with superior initiative, ability to prioritize, and sound judgement. Demonstrated knowledge of student mental health and wellness needs is essential, as is the skill to effectively adapt and respond to complex and changing needs in cooperation with a broad array of stakeholders, within and outside Brescia. Training and/or experience in risk and threat assessment, non-violent crisis intervention, suicide intervention, motivational interviewing and solution-focused approaches are strongly preferred.
