As a member of the Student Support Team, the Social Worker, Senior and Middle School, supports school-wide community mental health and well-being initiatives and assists day and boarding students (Grades 7 - 12) and their families, to address the social, behavioural, and emotional factors which impact student well-being. Using an equity lens, the Social Worker provides assessment, counselling, and consultation. This enables students and their families to optimize available opportunities and resources to fully develop each student's potential. 

With solid understanding of the psychosocial development of children and adolescents and an interest in the promotion of positive mental health, the Social Worker’s counselling expertise and knowledge will enable them to collaborate effectively with students, families and faculty to address factors which impact student school performance, peer relationships and overall well-being.

Practising within a strengths-based, anti-oppressive framework, inclusive of cross-cultural considerations, the successful candidate will work closely with faculty and staff. They will develop programs, build capacity and professional learning, engage parents, and integrate DEI and SEL in school practices and the student experience. With an interest in research and measurable impact, the Social Worker will collaborate with the Chandaria Research Centre in the development, dissemination and analysis of student surveys. 

The position is full-time and follows the academic calendar. 

Candidate Profile:

The successful candidate holds a minimum of a Master’s Degree in Social Work and membership in O.C.S.W.S.S.W., at least 5 years of clinical social work experience working with diverse youth and families, ideally in an educational setting or social service agency. Experience having worked with young females within the middle school years (Grades 7 - 9) would be considered an asset. 

Narrative Therapy orientation, and experience in cognitive behavioural theories are considered assets as well as consultation and counselling experience with parents and development and delivery of workshops for professional audiences.  A strong team player, with in-depth understanding of adolescent mental health and community-based services, you bring excellent counselling, crisis counselling and consultation skills to your practice and to collaboration with adults including parents and colleagues.  Your passion for positive mental health is evidenced in your work with girls and young women.
