Family Services Durham (FSD) is a multifaceted Division of the Social Services Department of the Regional Municipality of
Durham. Successful candidates will join a team of highly skilled Social Workers and Psychotherapists. Durham Region's

Reporting to the Area Manager, the successful candidate will provide individual, couple family, and group therapy as the
Social Worker/Psychotherapist
The incumbent will:
- Provide clinical counselling/psychotherapy to individuals, couples and families
- Analyze and assess the needs of clients to determine individual case plans and appropriate counselling
- Formulate and implement treatment plans and establish suitable timeframes for achievement of goals
- Evaluate interventions and recommend appropriate modifications to ensure optimal outcomes
- Maintain confidential clinical records in accordance to the professional and regulatory standards
- Support the development and delivery of psychoeducational wellness seminars and consultations to internal and external
agencies
- Represent the Social Services Department and the Family Services Division on internal and external committees
- Perform other duties as assigned such as providing coverage on an as needed basis for outreach programs such as the
Primary Care Outreach Program, on call Critical Incident Response Services and other clinical counselling/psychotherapy
services

**This position is required to work 3-day shifts (9:00am-5:00pm) and 2 evening shifts (1:00pm-9:00pm) every week. These
days are scheduled by the manager to fit operational needs. Services are provided in various locations throughout Durham
Region**

The successful applicant will possess:
- A completed Master's Degree in a Social Work program or a related discipline
- Five years or a minimum of 2500 hours post master's level experience providing individual, couple, and family clinical
counselling/psychotherapy.
- Extensive knowledge of various theoretical orientations and practice models and their applications in individual, couple
and family work including single sessions or brief therapy modalities
- Extensive knowledge of best practices working with diverse populations and social issues, including the ability to work
effectively with equity seeking communities and clients of diverse backgrounds and identities
- Demonstrated skills in analysis of systemic issues and ability to work with complex issues including trauma
- Ability to manage client crisis and engage in suicide or homicide risk assessment and intervention
- Knowledge and experience working with addictions/substance use is an asset
- Experience with training/presenting in one or more areas of mental health, family life education, or organizational support
and development deemed an asset
- Belong to a relevant professional College (i.e. College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO), and/or Ontario
College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW), and/or College of Psychologists of Ontario (CPO) in
the Associate category)
- A Valid Ontario Class 'G' Driver's Licence

Please note the Region of Durham is currently using a hybrid model of working from home as well as in the office. This
model will differ between departments and is based on business needs.

CUPE 1764-04 Wage Rates
This position will be paid at the following hourly rates:
- Start: $45.10 - 1 Year: $47.60 - 2 Year: $50.11
(Annual Salary range from $82,366 to $91,515)

Conditions of Employment
Prior to the start date, the successful candidate will be required to provide a satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check
dated within two (2) months from date of hire. Proof of education, qualifications and any other job bona fide requirements
will also be collected.
In addition, all Region of Durham employees are required to be fully vaccinated, as defined in the Region's COVID-19
Vaccination Policy, as a condition of hire in accordance with the Region's Mandatory Vaccination Policy.
