The Opportunity

Over the past 32 years—as Canada’s premiere e-mental health service informed by data, youth experience, and emerging needs—Kids Help Phone has had an indelible impact on the lives of millions of young people. During these complex and most unprecedented times, it has continued to be a vitally important service, remaining firmly committed to accessibility by providing free bilingual counselling and support services 24/7, through telephone, online means, and text. The organization works with a cadre of values-driven clinical staff and volunteers equipped to respond to the continuum of emotional and mental health needs of young people. Over the course of 2021, the organization has been there for youth more than 4.3 million times, and the transformational impact that the organization has had on the lives of countless youth will only continue!

Fulfilling its promise to Canadian youth—and ensuring every young person has access to meaningful support in times of need—has always been top of mind for Kids Help Phone. This vision is imbued in the organization’s approach to building its team and will inform its search for the next Associate Vice President, Clinical Operations. Qualifications

To be successful in the role, the Associate Vice President, Clinical Operations must be passionate about making a difference in the lives young people; be deeply inspired to help the organization make iterative and innovative improvements to services and modes of delivery, which includes leveraging data to make informed and excellent decisions; and, have the altruism, empathy, and resilience of character required to work in an organization serving Canadian youth 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Reporting to the Executive Vice President and Chief Youth and Innovation Officer, the Associate Vice President, Clinical Operations will bring senior management experience to the organization, with preference for experience in blended (union/non-union) environments and will have a style of leadership that encourages meaningful dialogue and collaboration among approximately 200 remote and onsite employees. They will bring operational rigour to the portfolio, ensuring matters related to the clinical operations side of Kids Help Phone are managed effectively and with great care, and will have a deep and abiding commitment to mentorship and coaching teams. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are sought, as is a degree from a recognized university (preferably with a focus in health, mental health, nursing, social work, psychology, or a related field).
