Mental Health Lead

MENTAL HEALTH LEAD

Permanent, full-time

Position Start Date: As soon as possible

Reporting to the Superintendent of School Effectiveness, the Mental Health Lead will use their clinical experience to work within the School Mental Health Ontario framework to develop a board- wide Mental Health Strategy and Action Plan. They, along with their team, will support the overall multi-year strategic plan and the Board Improvement Plan for student achievement and well-being. The Mental Health Lead will liaise, participate in and implement all Ministry of Education expectations for Mental Health Leaders related to School Mental Health Ontario. Required Qualifications/Skills/Abilities

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

Education / Certification

Masters’ degree in a related discipline (e.g. Social Work, Psychology, Psychiatry).

Registered health professional and member in good standing of a Professional regulatory board in Ontario (e.g., Ontario College of Social Workers & Social Service Workers).

Ministry of Labour Certificate for Supervisor Health and Safety Awareness in 5 steps (available on-line).

Experience Required

Minimum of 5 years of experience in mental health service delivery (promotion, prevention, intervention) as a mental health professional working with children and youth.

Knowledge Strong knowledge of the Mental Health Act, working knowledge of the Personal Health Information Protection Act, the Education Act and the Ministry of Education’s mental health and addictions strategy.

Understanding of federal, provincial and local laws, statutes, and/or policies that relate to students and families. Knowledge and understanding of the implementation resources available through School Mental Health Ontario.

Requires a valid driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle for occasional travel.

Requires a satisfactory Police Record Check: Vulnerable Sector Check.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience in a school board setting and knowledge of the Ontario Child and Family Services Act.

Current certification in Non-violent Crisis Intervention, First Aid and CPR.

Salary range is $100,216 to $125,281, with a comprehensive benefit package.
