HOURS: Days, Evenings, Nights, 8 &12 hour shifts with overnight, weekends and statutory holidays

 

*the Crisis program is a 24hr service which runs 7 days a week*

POSITION SUMMARY:

To provide immediate assessment and intervention for individuals who present to the Emergency Department in

Crisis due to symptoms associated with a serious and severe psychiatric problem and/or addiction, and/or psycho-social

problem(s). To work collaboratively with Hospital colleagues in a fast paced environment.

                       

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Masters degree in Social Work and/or Masters degree in Nursing or a Master’s degree in Counseling/Psychology with a combination of relevant experience in Mental Health and Addictions
• Registration with the appropriate professional college

• Minimum of 3 years recent, related experience in Crisis Intervention in the fields of Mental Health and Addictions
• Demonstrated knowledge and implementation of Best Practice guidelines in Crisis Intervention and Crisis theory

• Excellent assessment and counseling skills
• Demonstrated ability to work with and advocate for individuals with severe and persistent Mental Illness.

• Demonstrated ability to develop care plans for those in crisis

• Demonstrated ability to develop and foster community linkages and resources

• Demonstrated commitment to providing quality customer service in dealing with the public (patients and families) as well as various clinical professionals

• Demonstrated ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary team

• Self-directed and able to work effectively with minimal supervision

• Proficiency in computer skills mandatory

• Excellent attendance record
• May be required to travel and work between all Osler sites
