The Organization:

Citizen Advocacy Ottawa (CAO), founded in 1974, is one of the few agencies supporting people of all ages across the disability spectrum. We are a place where people with disabilities and their families feel welcomed, safe, not judged, able to speak their minds and where they receive the recognition, guidance and support they are seeking.

 

The Opportunity:

Located in Ottawa and reporting to the Board of Directors, CAO is seeking an outstanding Executive Director to provide leadership and assume overall responsibility for the operation and administration of COA’s business including human and financial resources. In addition, the Executive Director is responsible for implementing the strategic direction, providing a leadership role in resource development, public relations while establishing and maintaining effective community relations. 

The Fit:

This is an exciting opportunity for an exceptional senior leader who possess a Bachelor level university degree in Social Work, and a Master level degree in a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  In addition, the ideal candidate will bring a minimum seven years work experience with increasing levels of responsibility and a minimum of two to three years experience in a leadership capacity. As a strategic thinker, dedicated professional and self-starter, the successful candidate will have practical knowledge in the field of social work and in particular, the ability to engage and liaise with a broad sector of the community, volunteers and people with disabilities. The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record in identifying and pursuing new and creative sources of resource development as well as building and maintaining positive relationships.
