Social Worker (MSW)

Social Workers work as part of a multi-disciplinary team in accordance with the Regulated Health Professions Act, the Public Hospitals Act, and the standards set by the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service.  In keeping with the Hospital’s Mission, Vision, and Values, and policies and procedures, Social Workers provide professional care to patients.  The selected candidate will  provide individual and group counselling for clients registered under the Violence Against Women, Male Sexual Assault, Sexual Assault and Mental Health programs.


REQUIREMENTS:
• Masters Degree in Social Work and current certificate of competence with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers or equivalent (ie. Graduate level counselling and psychotherapy-registered)
• Minimum of 2 years clinical experience in trauma and with clientele with mental health and addiction co-morbidities
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and respectfully in an oral and written format with patients, public, colleagues and other health disciplines
• Demonstrated effective problem solving and critical thinking skills
• Demonstrated ability to apply basic computer skills
• Demonstrated ability to conduct psychosocial assessments and provide  individual and group counselling services
• Demonstrated knowledge of community resources and services
• Demonstrated and proven ability to work in a collaborative care model with all members of the health care team
• Demonstrated commitment to continuing education activities supporting ongoing professional learning in social work
• Demonstrated commitment to patient safety
• Satisfactory Security Screening Check
• Must have demonstrated ability to meet attendance standards of the Hospital
• Bilingualism is an asset
