Position Summary

Ontario Shores is seeking a Social Worker, who is a motivated, self-starter, to build capacity and support direct provision of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) for adults with mild to moderate depression, within a primary care setting. The Social Worker will possess sound knowledge of clinical social work in the area of depression and anxiety and in particular in the delivery of services using CBT. Responsibilities include: provision of psychotherapy; individual and group therapy and liaison with referral sources

Qualifications Required and Preferred
  •  An MSW is required.
  •  Completion of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) training with two years’ experience in delivery preferred.
  •  Registered with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers in good standing
  •  Current CPR-HCP is required
  •  3-5 years psychiatric experience in a mental health facility or service preferred
  •  Demonstrated knowledge of the OCSWSSW Standards of Practice and commitment to maintaining reflective practice standards as described by the College
  •  Demonstrated knowledge of Mental Health, and relevant policies and legislation, such as the Mental Health Act and PHIPA is required
  •  Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision
  •  Thorough knowledge of evidence based social work treatment methods applied in mental health settings/community
  •  Demonstrated competence in individual and group therapy and crisis intervention skills
  •  Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and effective oral/written communication skills
  •  The ability to work with clients of diverse ethno racial and cultural backgrounds and proficiency in a second language would be considered an asset
  •  Ability to perform the physical demands of the position
  •  Variable hours may be required due to patient demand
  •      French and/or bilingual is considered an asset
