This position reports to the Superintendent, Well Being Experiential Learning and Learning Services

Position Summary

Reporting to the Superintendent, Well Being Experiential Learning and Learning Services and under the direction of the Mental Health Lead, the Mental Health Support Worker will serve a number of secondary schools while working within an integrated, collaborative system team supporting the Ontario Catholic School Graduate Expectations and the Catholic Board Improvement Cycle to support and improve student well-being and achievement through the work of the Well-Being, Experiential Learning Program & Special Education/Learning Services departments. The Mental Health Support Worker will provide leadership and support, promoting equity, inclusion and success for all learners.

Qualifications/Experience

Applicants must be an accredited, regulated health professional with specialized training in Mental Health in addition to possessing the following:

  •   Masters of Social Work Degree (MSW), must be registered with the Ontario College of Social Workers, with a graduate level training in mental health and/or

  •   Master or Doctorate of Psychology, must be registered with the College of Psychologists of Ontario with graduate level training in mental health and/or

  •   Other regulated professional with graduate studies in Mental Health

  •   Minimum of five (5) years post graduate experience working with youth with social, emotional,

    behavioural and mental health challenges

  •   Experience working within an educational setting is required

  •   Possess strong presentation and communication skills

  •   Experience in the use of Restorative Justice

  •   Ability to provide direct service delivery (e.g.; consultation on complex cases, individual counselling,

    member of Violence, Risk, Threat Assessment Team (VRTA)

  •   A valid driver’s license and use of a vehicle and willingness to work with the Dufferin-Peel regions.

All new employees will be required to submit a current original criminal background check (CBC) including a "Vulnerable Sector Screening" (VSS) issued within 6 months prior to commencing employment.
