Reporting to the Director of the Family Services Division, this position will be responsible for the administrative
management of a team of professionally trained Family Counsellors to ensure delivery of the agency's core counselling
services, Employee Assistance Program and other programs administered by Family Services Durham to meets the
psychosocial needs of our clients.The incumbent will:
- Analyze, assess, monitor and implement client programs consistent with accreditation standards and requirements to
meet the needs of stakeholders and the division
- Develop and administer policies and procedures for the program ensuring a system that is organized, efficient, usable,
cost-effective and measurable
- Manage financial and staff resources
- Assist staff in assessing and analyzing the needs of clients to provide an accurate and reliable understanding of the
problems the client is seeking to change and to formulate treatment plans based on clinical analysis
- Maintain confidential clinical records and assessment information
- Consult with Regional Departments, community agencies, professionals, and community groups
- Represent Family Services Division in the community
- Provide all manner of direction and supervision to a professional team of counselling staff, including
recruitment/selection, monitor/evaluate staff performance, resolve staff conflict including labour relations responsibilities in
a unionized work environment
The successful candidate will possess:
- A Master's Degree in Social Work or other relevant counselling program or equivalent
- Membership in good standing with an accredited professional regulatory body/College
- A minimum of five years experience post Master's Degree working with and applying standards, principles and theories
associated with work in human services coupled with well-developed critical thinking and problem solving skills.
- Previous management experience leading a diverse team of professionals within a specified budget
- Demonstrated ability to establish and build collaborative relationships with external professional and community
stakeholders
- Superior verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with clients and other
professionals
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational and time management skills
- Demonstrated ability to develop organizational capability - teams and individuals including people, roles, structure and
processes
- Leadership skills to provide support and guidance to team members; reinforcing the importance of service excellence
and an organizational culture of care, learning and leadership
- The ability to motivate staff, monitor performance and take corrective action as required
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision within confines of provincial and national requirements for family
service agencies
- A valid Ontario class driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle
- Availability for on-call (24/7) Critical Incident Response Services and on-call evening coverage
