SOCIAL WORKER                     

Start date:  December 1, 2017                                                                               Term:  Approximately one year

 $28.00 - $32.95

The Social Worker works with residents and their representatives to restore, maintain and enhance the residents’ quality of life by optimizing strengths, coping capacities and resiliency.  He/she reviews applications for residency and liaises with referring agencies to facilitate the admission processes.  The Social Worker supports residents as they relate to others, addresses environmental stressors and provides psychosocial education related to wellness and well-being.   He/She works collaboratively with the interprofessional team to address the social and emotional impact of physical and mental illness or impairment, with an emphasis on identifying solutions to issues that interfere with optimal quality of life.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from an accredited university
• Registration and licensure with the Ontario College of Social Workers
• At least two years of experience in health care or a related social service agency.  Experience in geriatrics preferred.
• Bilingualism is considered a definite asset
